The Del Mar Fair

My San Diego weekend! Happy Belated Father's Day to all you great father's out there I hope you had  relaxing weekend with your family doing the things you love most! We had a great time visiting with my sister, niece & nephew, and exploring San Diego seeing a couple of places that I'd always wanted to see.
We started off on Sat. by going to The Del Mar Fair. Ahhhh, photo opportunities galore! I recently read an article about how it can be overwhelming to shoot pictures in  a carnival atmosphere, hmmm ya think! Yeh, so the article said to just focus on one subject matter, such as rides, people, food, etc... Easier said than done, I couldn't do it.
So here are a few of my favorite "various" sots. I did experiment using slow shutter speeds to photograph the movement of the ferris wheel. I've always wanted to do that and had never before taken the time to do it properly. They turned out to be my favorite shots of the day. Check it out, and tell me what ya think. Other highlights , riding the skyline, looking at the livestock, seeing the joy on the boys faces, being silly with my sister, and checking out the photography exhibit. And let's not forget trying the deep fried oreo!

The "Click" meets again

A Photog Get together with my girlfriends: We introduced a new photographer Loretta to our group. Yes, she's the Preggers one in the middle! Such a cute Belly! Hoping to do some creative Maternity photos of her in the near future. From left to right...Me, Stephanie,Loretta, Kimberly & Sophia. It had been way too long since we got together to just hang out, talk shop, and chow down on some good grub for breakfast. We never want the time to end, it's kinda funny how we could talk about photography for-ev-er!. It was like watching the ladies on the view, you know how they all talk at once cause everyone's excited and wants to share what they know!  At one point we all stopped talking and realized that we were carrying on like four conversations all at one time! Kim stating "You know only women can multi-task like this" LOL! So true!
Thanks to Kim for opening up her studio for the get-together. It''s always inspiring to see her beautiful walls! And thanks for the bookshelves, girl you Rock!! And to Sophia for her homemade Tamales that were De-lish! And also for her "In Style" topic of conversation. That was great sharing & pen gifts to us all!Oh, and the Logo Stamp...Shut up!! Your "bad ass"girl! And You Steph ... for your many questions that got us all buzzing about contracts, and pricing, and albums, and noiseware, and pixels, and stinkin rich Wedding photographers!! And you too Loretta for your animated stories of mean photographers and delightful children! Oh, and the yummy blueberries, juice & crackers too! You crack me up. All of you ...thanks so much for a great day. It inspires me to keep on keepin on!

New Portrait Bliss Photography Logo

Finally! After a couple of years creating my own logo, and consequently changing it several times, I decided to have a professional graphic designer help me. Who'd a thought that would help! Lucky for me he also happens to be my cousin. We reconnected at a family party last year and "low & behold" I found out he was a designer. I trust the timing was right and I needed the experience of failing and letting go! It's a wonderful thing to ask for help. For a self professed perfectionist this is not easy but oh sooo worth it! I highly recommend it in business decisions and in life. If you need help ask, seek, knock. Wisdom from above. He did a great job & I love it. Now I'll be busy working on implementing the new logo in my marketing pieces & start advertising. If you need a designers help for your business check out his website: MONDO@ILLUSIVELOUNGE.COM

"The Click" Get together.

Yes, sometimes photographers get to be on the other side of the camera, but it's a rare occasion for us. My fellow photogs & girlfriends,  Sophia, Kim ,Stephanie & I took a "girls day out" on Friday. Ever hear of the "Orange Circle"? It's a quaint little area for shoppin, eatin, & snappin! We had a great morning of  laughing, talkin shop, and not taking ourselves too seriously. It was much needed girl time ya know! We get together every couple months to encourage one another and brainstorm ideas for our business and discuss the latest and greatest in photography. So we also used this opportunity to photograph each-other just for fun & practice. It's nice to have current portraits  for websites & such. We were like the paparazzi walking around town with our big gun cameras, taking pictures of odd things like tables & walls! I know, it's weird, something only a few can understand. We had a blast! Looking forward to our next Click meeting girls, thanks! Here are my favs of yous. Enjoy.

"Jump for Joy"

I Love these girls! My friend Angies daughters, they always have joy on there faces no matter what! This shot was taken from the family portrait day we did last week in Chino Hills, forty of her nieces and nephews showed up for a quick family portrait for Grandma! It was Crazy Beautiful!

"Bloom Were Your Planted"

Okay people start your blogging! We all have things we want to say right? I know, I know, who has time. Maybe it's just me who spends most of my time editing photos in front of this computer, so this is my outlet, my attempt at saying something meaningful or maybe,  not so much. But none the less it's a way to let others know what I'm up to, and that I haven't fallen off the planet. I truly do find blissful little things everyday to be thankful for. Being a natural pessimist makes it a challenge most days, but the energy of the spirit continually prompts me to see the beauty around me, embrace it, live it, just take a moment to breathe it in. Stop  and listen for a moment, it will speak to you.

Something I love besides photography is Gardening, I'd rather be with my hands in the dirt than on the computer for sure! However , I don't posses the green thumb that was inherited by most members of my extended family, but i keep trying. I love the springtime,  nature can often surprise you. I found this little sunflower thriving with just an inch of dirt next to the path, in fact I   had a whole patch of them that I  have never planted there. They just showed up. So the lesson I take from this: Beauty can survive under less than perfect conditions , so grow already!
